Why Choose Bagasse Food Boxes?

Bagasse is the fibrous pulp left after sugarcane juice is extracted — a natural by-product that would otherwise go to waste. Turning it into food packaging creates a genuinely sustainable alternative to plastic and polystyrene. Bagasse boxes are naturally grease-resistant, moisture-resistant, and structurally strong, making them ideal for professional catering use without compromising on eco credentials.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a bagasse food box?
A bagasse food box is a takeaway food container made from sugarcane fibre — the natural by-product left after juice is extracted from sugarcane. Bagasse boxes are 100% biodegradable, compostable, and a sustainable alternative to plastic or polystyrene takeaway containers. They are naturally grease and moisture resistant, making them ideal for a wide range of hot and cold foods.

Are bagasse food boxes microwave safe?
Yes — bagasse food boxes are microwave safe, making them ideal for reheating food directly in the container. They are also freezer safe, so food can be stored and reheated without needing to transfer to another container.

Are these food boxes compostable?
Yes — bagasse boxes are 100% naturally compostable and biodegradable. They break down far faster than plastic alternatives and can be composted in industrial composting facilities. They are made entirely from sugarcane fibre with no plastic lining.

What foods can I use these boxes for?
These 9" x 9" square bagasse boxes are suitable for hot, cold, wet, and oily foods — including burgers, chips, curries, salads, pasta, rice dishes, and more. The 1000ml capacity makes them ideal for generous main meal portions.

How do bagasse boxes compare to plastic or polystyrene containers?
Bagasse boxes are stronger and more heat-retentive than many plastic alternatives, and far more sustainable than polystyrene. They keep food warmer for longer, are grease and moisture resistant, and break down naturally at the end of life — unlike plastic, which can persist in the environment for hundreds of years.

What size are these food boxes?
These are 9" x 9" (23cm x 23cm) square clamshell boxes with a 1000ml capacity, sold in packs of 50. They are a large square format ideal for main meal portions.

Can I get these delivered next day in the UK?
Yes — these bagasse food boxes are held in UK stock and available for next-day delivery. Orders over £70 qualify for FREE delivery.
